FAQ

What is acupuncture?

Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture originated in China approximately 5,000 years ago.  Acupuncture is a complementary medical practice which entails stimulating certain points on the body, typically by penetrating the skin using needles, in order to alleviate pain or to help treat various health conditions.

In Traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is linked to the belief that disease is caused by disruptions to the flow of energy, or Qi, in the body. Acupuncture stimulates the points on or under the skin which are called acupuncture points or acupressure points releasing the Qi, which then travels through channels, called meridians, promoting the immune system, balancing the hormones, and improving overall function. We use thin, disposable needles to perform acupuncture treatments on our patients, to ensure it is safe, painless and effective.
